After months of hard work by our fall sports teams, this recent season has at last come to a close. Although the football team drew the most attention, the volleyball, cross country, and swim teams all had outstanding efforts, with each team making it to the postseason.

Many parents and students supported the volleyball team through its winning 2012 season. The Lady Knights had a tough draw in facing state-finalist Northwest Christian in the second round yet again, and sadly fell in three sets.

The team will feel the effects of losing stars Maddie Ternyik and Marissa Rich, but MVP and first team all-state selection Kaitlin Shroll will attempt to lead the Knights back to the playoffs for the tenth straight year.

Knights stride out before state championship race

As for cross country, the graduation of nine seniors is sure to hurt the upcoming years of TPA running. Both the men’s and women’s teams repeated last year’s appearance at the state championship meet, with seniors Caleb Peckham and Lindsey Macias leading the way with top finishes at sectionals and state. The team was aided “a unity that is uncommon on cross country teams”, according to Albern Tan.

The swim team had a strong debut, with coach Jennifer Stephens and top swimmer Kira Thomas helping the Knights’ program take a solid place in the Tempe Prep sports lineup. TPA’s fall teams are looking forward to further success next season.
