Martial arts training emphasizes discipline as well as self-defense

“Might for Right” is JB Martial Arts’ motto since 2005, when the studio started kicking. Mr. Glen Wong, the main instructor and owner of the “dojan” follows Grand Master Jhoon Goo Rhee’s style of Taekwondo. Jhoon Goo Rhee is recognized as the “Father of American Taekwondo,” and at age 81 he is still doing flips.

I am a proud student of Mr. Glen Wong, and in the years I have been doing Taekwondo I learned that I must never give up. Instructor Mr. Marvin White, who has no arms and only one leg, is now a black belt and shows in a couple of videos that anything is possible by splitting 2-inch cinder blocks with his one foot.

JB Martial Arts’ goal is to help anyone who needs to improve on self-discipline and self-defense.  JB Martial Arts requires its students to perform many community service projects and do volunteer work. It is a great chance to acquire life skills because there is no end to what you can learn. Taekwondo involves moves, forms, self-defense, and even social skills.

JB Martial Arts looks out for its fellow students and its community. Its core values are “Strength in the body, Honesty in the Heart, and Knowledge in the mind.” The words of the Grand Master Jhoon Goo Rhee and JB Martial Arts’ credo strike people of all ages and sizes: “To Keep friendship with one another and to build a strong and happy community. Never fight to achieve selfish ends, but to develop might for right. I like myself because I always take action to make good things happen. I am humanly perfect because I never make mistakes knowingly. I am wise because I always learn something good every day. I am happy that I am me, because I choose to be happy.”
