Poetry Corner: Jasmine Antony (10B) Original Petrarchan Sonnet

JasmineIf a man did venture out to find relief

In calming solace of the land and lake,

A set of shining eyes might make him quake.

It could be so his lonesomeness is brief,

For she is always watching; every leaf

Is sharply noticed; she knows not sleep nor wake:

Her careful keep on nature does not break.

Her beauty brings the Goddesses to grief,

But such an unmatched fairness has a price.

She has a capricious, wrathful rage within:

To meet her icy stare would just entice

Her temper and her patience do wear thin:

Destroying, renewing, to her own device,

Untamable, as she has always been.
