Baseball players have high hopes for strong season

By Chris Moffitt

Grab your gloves and caps because the recent start of spring sports means that the TPA Varsity Baseball team is once again taking the field!

This year’s team is ready to go far. Senior Kyle Pickard is very excited for the season saying, “our team is looking great! We have eight seniors this year so we have a very experienced team. We also have some great experience in our coaching staff this year, especially in our pitching staff. I think they will allow us to reach new heights for this season.”

Junior Gabe LeBeau also has high hopes for the season saying, “we expect to go far this season and we hope for a state championship. We have a lot of talent and some experience. We have to cut down on the mental mistakes, those are the main things that are holding us back.” Hopefully the early season practice is helping to cut down on those mistakes.

“We started the season with several tournaments, which  have been a good preparation for the regular season,” says Junior Jacob Brown. The Knights have done quite well in these tournament games with a winning record of 5-3, beating Division 4 teams such as Arizona Lutheran Academy, Seligman, Arizona Charter Academy, and Horizon Honors. TPA’s baseball team is in Division 4 so these wins really show that we are definitely able to play with the bigger kids.

As of now, the team’s regular season record is starting out 0-1, but with a strong team and some good experience behind them, the Knights are ready to really make a statement this year in Division 4 baseball.
