Young Lady Knights improving as season progresses

By Emma Moriarty

Throughout the whole year, it is easy to see how supportive and passionate TPA’s sports teams are about their athletics. This is particularly exemplified through the high school soccer team. Even though the team only had nine players at first, they gained another three. With 11 on the field at a time, the team has had to improve their physical and mental endurance.

SocG009 Kat Camberg expands on their athletic journey. “At the beginning of the season we had 12 girls and only four had any prior soccer experience. We lost our first three games, but the scores kept getting closer and we won our game on the 11th 2-0! I think our whole team really works very well together and we are improving a lot! We also learned a lot and bonded at soccer camp.”

Communication is an important part of any team sport so it’s great to see that the members are learning how to work together.

Maria Zello explains how she recovered from a difficult situation: SocG008“This is my first time playing soccer and it was sort of a rough start because I got injured at the beginning of the season. I still learned a lot from watching our team play against other teams. I think observing all the teams play really helped me get an idea of the forms and plays commonly used in soccer even though I couldn’t participate. It’s really no coincidence that as soon as I was able to play again, we won our first game. The team really worked together and I told them all the strategies I had come up with from the sidelines.”

It’s great to see that even when the knights are injured, they are still adamant about helping their team.

Overall the soccer team has shown great improvement and is coming together to win more games. Go out and support the lady Knights. Let’s cheer them onto another strong victory!
