Juniors get up-close look at Arizona’s history

Where is a place where you can see World War II propaganda, unique pieces of silver, and a creepy wax mannequin? The Arizona State Capitol Museum, that’s where.

AH05 (1 of 1)The 11th grade Humane Letters classes recently visited the museum and had an exceptional time. The museum contains a piece from the U.S.S Arizona, sunk at Pearl Harbor, as well as silver and gold from the ship. And yes, on the top floor, a terrifying wax statue of former Governor George Hunt.

The museum is a fantastic look at Arizona history, and quite the trip. “I enjoyed it quite a lot,” David Hudson said. Raven Guglielmo echoed him: “It was a fun experience and reminded me of when I was a child.”

Genevieve Gaylor’s favorite part was “Sitting in the old Senate seats. It was a fun experience.”

Next door, we also checked out the state Legislature’s office, and spotted a Pikachu sitting on a senator’s desk.

In addition, we also visited Pueblo Grande, an ancient Native American village, and learned about the history and structures of it.

All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and an interesting look at Arizona history.
