Young softball team overcomes inexperience with scrappiness

By Carter Sampson

This year’s softball team has been scrapping throughout the season to overcome the odds and find success. They have played in a competitive tournament and worked hard against some of the strongest teams in the division.

Softball023Despite not having a single upperclassmen on the squad, the team has learned about the game and improved. Through this hard work, they have reached a record of 7-8, including huge wins that reached scores like 26-5.

The young team has had to count on players like Alexis Massie and Capprianna Sampson who have more experience but are still young. However, some surprise players have stepped up to help the team reach success. One example is pitcher Katherine Jung, who learned on the job and became an essential part of the team’s winning.

Alexis says of the team, “In the future the softball team will be stronger than ever before. All of the new and determined freshmen have so much potential and keep growing every day. I’m excited to see what the team will look like my senior year.”

While the future is certainly bright, it is still great to come out and support the present team. We wish them the best of luck. Go Knights!
