Senior Emma Moriarty and Freshman Clara Moffitt had the pleasure of going to the 2017 League of Cities and Towns Arizona meeting in Tucson, where they got to learn about many important issues that we as Arizona face, and they learned some life skills as well.  At this conference, they talked about topics varying from water and wastewater infrastructure to economic development through travel and tourism to what challenges face small communities in Arizona. A reoccurring theme with the topics they discussed was youth programs and how you can successfully run a youth program in your town. Our Arizonian board has a lot of their priority on making sure the youth has a say. Clara says that, ” We are the leaders of tomorrow, and also the leaders of today.
We make up such a large portion of our community that if the kids aren’t happy, the majority of the city isn’t happy, and I guess you could say that leaders of Tempe really try to hear what we have to say. ” Clara and Emma want to advocate as much as they can to make sure that the youth of Arizona has a say in their community.
