Tempe Prep College Day helps students set course for future

College Day at TPA, held on Oct. 22, was an opportunity for any high school student to become acquainted with a variety of colleges and universities, and the application process. Senior Rachel Dinh states, “I’ve learned more about colleges in general [and] study-abroad programs.” She adds, “I got to know the college admission representatives!”

College Day 2Though juniors and seniors were required to attend, College Day was not something you wanted to miss. Aside from learning tips for college essays and what universities look for in applications, attendees had their eyes opened to 20 different colleges they may not have considered before.

As only a sophomore, Anna Moriarty knew that College Day was the place she wanted to spend her Friday off. She says College Day “really helped me learn about colleges that I didn’t know …  it’s gotten me excited for the future! I have time to make a goal and go towards that goal.” Students may have learned about future interests, and how colleges can assist with their interests.

Those at College Day had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with actual admissions representatives from universities in California to Alabama, and Tennessee to New York. Anna saw the day as a launch to her future, noting, “I hope to stay in contact with the colleges to look at them more closely in junior and senior year.”
