Boys soccer team improving amid tough early competition

By Katherine Camberg
The boys soccer team was faced with a big challenge at the beginning of their season: play the three top-ranked teams in our division for their first three games. The boys have been playing their hearts out and are ready to let their passion for the game lead them to success. And they tasted success on Saturday with a hard-fought 4-3 overtime win over Trivium Prep.
SocB018Whenever I ask the soccer players about their season, one thing is clear: they have a fun and successful season ahead of them.
The team has a new coach this year and is learning a lot about the fundamentals of the game, which is great, especially for new members. Besides, according to Captain Carter Sampson, “He’s British so you know he knows what he’s talking about.” On a more serious note though, Carter says his coaching has been great and the team is learning a lot.
While working on improving their skills, the team has also had some fun times too. The varsity team took a weekend trip down to Benson, Arizona for soccer camp, which the players always enjoy.
To watch how they have improved, go support them at one of their upcoming games, which are always entertaining.
