Lady Knights have solid 5-1 record as they head into heart of season

The girls high school basketball team is dominating in the beginning of this season. Although the team did not win any games in their first tournament, the team has won all but one regular season games so far. They have won against Gilbert Classical Academy, Trivium Prep, ASU Prep, San Tan Foothills and Rancho Solano. Their only loss was to Phoenix Christian, 26-29.

BBG015“I did the tournament to find out what our weaknesses are and what we need to work on,” Coach Callahan says.  “We are weak in what I call basketball IQ. If we were more experienced and more educated on basketball, we would have won the tournament. Once we learn more about basketball we are sure to win more.”

Ms. Callahan says the team “overthinks everything,” but the team is doing amazing since their tournament.

They have won all but one of their season games so far, which places them second in the 2A Metro East division. Their razor-thin loss to Phoenix Christian after leading much of the game was a heartbreaker.

The team’s season goal is to go to the state playoffs, which the girls basketball team has not been to in three years.

Although their goal is high, with lots of practice, focus and fan support they are sure to reach it. Overall, the team is doing great, and as long as they continue to increase their “basketball IQ” as they go along they will do phenomenally and reach their season goal. The team is off to a great start.
