Two TPA students make it all the way to All-State choir

As the school year is soon coming to an end there are a few questions that come up into students’ heads and one of them being “What is the best experience this year that deserves to be in my best friend’s yearbook?” While many need a few minutes to think and sort through their year, sophomore Clara Moffitt and junior Eric Johnson have something pretty epic to share.

IMG_7389In the past few months the two TPA Students auditioned for the all-regional choir and from there they attempted and were successful at taking the next step: making it to the all-state choir concert. The coolest part is not that they got to miss school, it is the experiences that they had and the friends they made. It required a lot of practice and a lot of work for weeks and weeks, everyday sight reading and repeating the pieces they are going to be singing over and over again.

As it got closer to the concert itself, Clara started practicing with more people from Corona so she can understand what it feels like to sing together. In the choir itself there are 200 people and Clara states that anyone can be kicked out if they do not know their pieces, if they show up even a second too late and for other minor and major infractions like that.

As the date of the concert came around, Clara and Eric traveled all the way to Flagstaff NAU and began practicing together with all of the other participants in the choir. All of the hard work was paying off, especially when they started singing together.

Clara explains, “It is always exhilarating when everyone starts singing together and it sounds so good.” Singing for hours was not the only epic thing that happened on the trip.

Because they were practicing on the NAU campus, the students got to explore the campus and the different parts of it and the different new technologies. Clara tells the story of the latest robots that are rolling around and when you order food they bring it to you. Even if this type of technology sounds too advanced, it is the truth and the moment they saw the tiny robots and their cuteness they loved them!

Unfortunately, their experience had to end eventually, and even though they did not get to make as many friends as they would have wished, the experience will stay with them forever. All state is a privilege that few get a chance to experience and luckily for us not one but two people made it! They for sure have a cool option to write about in each other’s yearbooks!

What was your best moment this year?
