When people work their whole lives for something, are willing to miss parties for it, and spend every breathing second thinking about it, they will most definitely be someone to watch. On the boys soccer team, Evan Hackett is one of those people, and is the kind of person who brings everyone along with him.

Senior Ridley Diez de Medina says, “Evan is a great leader for the team. When he has the ball, you know that something good is gonna happen.” This leadership is most definitely helpful.
The fact of the matter is, few games have been played, and with only 11 players, everything seems to be in question. However, the boys soccer team has not let up on preparation. Says Senior Captain Evan Hackett, “After the season got cancelled and then restarted, we have been practicing like we might not get more than the next game.” With the recent rain and small team size, this is a great mindset to have.
Even with things like injuries always a possibility, another game might never come, so it really is important to play like there is no tomorrow. And they have been. In Friday’s victory over Phoenix Christian, they soundly defeated the Cougars, with a goal by sophomore Alejandro Lucero adding on to the score to make it 4-2. With amazing saves by keeper Spencer Bodow, the team showed its ability to make things happen on the field.
With only 11 players, such a resounding victory proves how much determination the team has to go out and grab these victories. Nothing comes easily, and the team has a long season ahead of them. However, with the success and determination showed against Phoenix Christian, this should be a good season to watch.
