TPA students enjoy midnight in Venice at winter formal dance

By Julia Hannon

Thanks to the hard work of TPA juniors Kailana Williams and Sayellor Taylor-Blackstone, TPA high-schoolers were able to have a night reminiscent of midnight in Venice.

The two were the main members of the winter formal dance committee and were the ones planning the dance and making it a fun night. This year’s winter formal was packed full of enchantment with a mystical theme, delicious snacks, a professional DJ and a fun photobooth with tons of props.

Almost all of the details of the dance were worked out by student life members. Mr. Lambros was responsible for picking a DJ and setting a budget for the decorations and snacks, while the dance committee planned the rest.

Kailana and Sayellor handled publicity. They organized a poster-making session during lunch the week before and, with the help of other TPA high-schoolers, decorated multiple posters and were able to advertise the dance all around campus. Kailana and Sayellor also went around to classes inviting people to come and handing out posters.

The night in Venice was set up through the generosity of Ms. Nicoulaud, who was able to come in the morning of the dance and let a few students decorate for this magical night. Mr. Lambros and a few student volunteers handled clean-up after the dance.

One of the best parts of the night was the photo booth. This has been one of the most popular features at the last few TPA dance, which inspired the dance committee to ensure the photo booth made it to the formal. Sayellor said, “It’s a good way to commemorate the night and one of the things that Kailana and I were really dedicated to making sure happened.”

Overall, this dance was a success and a wonderful experience for its participants.
